What can I do?

The administration’s policies have significantly disrupted the academic landscape by affecting funding, academic freedom, workforce stability, and public access to critical health and environmental data. With communication blackouts, budget cuts, mass layoffs at major agencies like NIH, CDC, and NSF, and cancellation of research grants and contracts at various universities, many academics and scientists face uncertainty about the future of their work. Policy shifts, including restrictions on DEI-related research, have further limited funding opportunities and academic freedom. These actions together may reshape the direction of universities and science and lessen the impact of the US academies and science for years to come.

Given these changes, many of us are left wondering what we can do to support the academic community and ensure that the creation of knowledge continues. How can we help protect the integrity of higher ed and advocate for its future?
